Southland

A lot of time has passed since my last post.
To my excuse: I was busy working pretty much all summer long...
Anyways, I'm back on the road and had a wonderful time in the Catlins forest park and the surroundings!
And that's not the end of the good news: I will be spending the next three weeks on mysterious Stewart Island! So stay tuned, more is to come!
So the bush fires in the North Canterbury were getting pretty serious...
What a day to end my job!

The Nuggets, Nugget Point.

Incoming tide...

Sea lions fighting, seagull is not impressed!

Cannibal Bay, I wonder where that name is coming from...

Purakaunui Falls, one of the scenic highlights of the catlins

A typical encounter in New Zealand's rural areas

Waipati Beach, one the oh-so many...
And the rising fog above the rain forest in the back.

The Cathedral Caves, one of the most stunning sea Caves of New Zealand

Jack's Blowhole, that's what happens when the ceiling of a sea cave collapses.

Tautuku Bay, yet another deserted beach.

Mclean Falls. ' This is a forest walk to what some say is the most striking of the Catlins’ waterfalls.'

Petrified logs at Curio Bay.

I was going to shoot some penguins, but I couldn't find any, so this heron will have to do

Bull Kelp, holding on.

Another petrified stump, you can even count the growth rings!

A crabs abandoned shell, still makes a good picture

Slope Point

Southernmost point of New Zealands South Island

I think I know where the wind is coming from...

The light of the setting sun at Waipapa Point

And at last the sunset at Fortrose.
And yes, Surprisingly the old Morris is still going strong! :D
