Birds and Scenery

Well, it seems I have struck a chord with the little Fuji. I really struggle to find any flaws with it, although the short battery life is certainly one.  Thanks to it's compact size and weight it travels rather well and still produces great pictures. The weak link here is definitely my shaky hand and lack of patience. I really need to pay more attention to framing and composition.

I'm still not very confident at all with editing, but feel like I'm slowly making progress.

Here is a selection of shots from Grovetown lagoon and Isolated Hill Reserve.

A native kingfisher, or Kotare. Not very sharp unfortunately.

A cormorant

Little Pied Cormorant, sadly lacking sharpness, but I do love the textures on it's plumage

Flower of the New Zealand Flax

Juvenile Silvereye attempting to camouflage itself

Another cormorant. I do wish the walkway around the local lagoon was a little closer to the water.

A quick snap of the moon. I'm quite impressed with the outcome.

Isolated Hill reserve. My usual play with Black and White. As much as I love monochrome, I do have a long way to go before I can pull it of with confidence...

A Marlborough Rock Daisy

Sawcut gorge. the entry is about 2 meters wide.

Beautiful patterns washed into the limestone

Very typical landscape for most of the eastern half of the South Island.
