Mini Roadtrip

I took a couple of days of work and used an appointment in Christchurch as an excuse for a mini roadtrip!

Nature Walk at Lake Rotoroa. I just love the tenderness of the green on the new growth on these ferns

Braeburn Falls.

The flowers of the native trees and shrubs are often small and barely noticeable.

The generator shed at Six Mile Bush near Murchison. The hydroelectric power station was opened in 1922 and provided electricity for the region for many years, but is no longer in use.

The intake for the power station at the top left corner.

The famous New Brighton Pier in Christchurch at blue (or purple) hour.

A 210m long wooden pier was first built in 1891, but the structure decayed over time and was demolished in 1965.

After much campaigning and lobbying funds were raised for a new, 300m long concrete pier, which opened in 1997. It still is the longest ocean pier in Australasia.

The pier is a popular subject from photographers from far and wide.

I normally don't take pictures of other humans, but I couldn't resist this backdrop!
I was to shy to initiate any kind of contact, but I hope she didn't mind her picture taken.

And finally, the much awaited sunrise
