QLD

Well, it was a short holiday I had and now I'm back to work!
I've made it to the vast plains of southern Queensland, 'only' four hours inland from Brisbane.
I would have loved to stay in southern Australia and get a least a whiff of winter,
but sadly there are little employment opportunities down there...
Anyways, I found an excellent position with one of Australia's largest pork producers, although luckily I don't have anything to do with the pigs...
A Charolais and Black Angus Crossbreed in it's amazingly fluffy winter coat.

After countless futile attempts and plenty of bribe in form of bird seed finally a Cockatoo presented it's crest to my camera!
I'm pretty darn proud of this shot, I might add!

Despite all the noise they make they are very pretty birds, I find.

A male Scarlett Robin, sorry for the blur; this picture has been taken through a window

An Australian White Ibis, one of Australia's more prominent swamp dweller. This one seems quite happy about something!

A laughing Kookaburra, famous for it's distinctive call.
It's hysterical laughter has been used in countless films, cartoons and anywhere a 'Jungle setting' feel is desirable.
Although native to Australia, and predominately suburban gardens, the Kookaburra's call is THE stock sound for any Jungle scene you may see on TV, as early as 1930 in Disney's Tarzan.

The emptiness of central Queensland. Cropping as far as the eye can see...

So in Australia, when they say 'Wide Load' they do mean it!
