No. 2

And here we have the second batch from the South Island. A few from the North may have slipped in as well...

Giant Sequoia

One last sunrise at Castle Point

Castle Rock

Shortfin Eel

Wainui Falls, Golden Bay

Finally managed to get some good pictures of a Pukeko

They are found all over Australasia and are believed to have migrated to New Zealand around 1000 years ago. They tend to flash the white feathers at their back to signal approaching danger to their flock.

They are known for their defensive and cheeky behavior.

Te Waikoropupu Springs. The third clearest waters ever measured. Until 2011 the Clarity of Pupu Springs was believed to be second only to subglacial waters of Antarctica. Now however nearby Blue Lake holds the title. Even so the constantly 11.7 degree cool waters feature a horizontal visibility was measured at 63 meters. The site is of great spiritual significance to Maoris all over Aotearoa and touching the waters is strictly prohibited.

Rawhiti Cave

One more Fantail.
