Dillons Point

I was recently given the notice by my previous landlord as he was helping out his freshly divorced son, which added a great amount of pressure to the already tense situation around a 60+ hour workweek, an overly restrictive work permit and a tender relationship with my work.  Fortunately this crisis, as it so often happens, turned into an opportunity, as I managed to find a lovely little abode in one of Blenheim's nicer suburbs. And a much less restrictive work permit may just be on the horizon...

Anyways, here's a few pictures from my new home:

The resident ram

Ever since I can remember I had a strong fascination with South America and it's Flora and Fauna. Unfortunately I won't be able to travel there for some time to come. Fortunately my new place comes with the bonus of a small flock of Alpacas. So here's a series of portraits:

No drugs were fed to the animals in the making of these images

Still working on my Monochrome conversions...

Little yellow flower

The cold stare

A spot of colour

Shot through a few blades of grass to compensate for the lack of bokeh my lens yields. One day I'll invest into a Macro lens, promised!

Bumblebee on some clover. Taken with my Tele-lens from a few meters away.

One of AirNZ's 23 De Havilland Canada DHC-8 Q300s coming into Blenheim Airport.
With only 50 seats AirNZ's smallest plane in operation, it differs from earlier -8s by virtue of an Active Noise and Vibration Control System.

Capturing birds in flight on a sunny and windy afternoon certainly pushed my camera and my skills to their respective limits.

There is a harrier living in the nearby wetlands, which I tried to shoot, but only this seagull showed up that day...
